MC to recall 21 tenders for installation of tubewells

In order to avoid pooling by contractors and save money, the MC Commissioner today ordered the cancellation of 21 tenders that were called for installation of tubewells in various parts of the city. Now, these tenders will be floated once again under the Punjab Urban Development Mission.

During the checking of tenders, the officials found out pooling by contractors which could have proved expensive to the department. Despite the fact that tenders were called through e-tendering, the officials received single tender in each category and also, there was less saving in the tendering procedure for the MC. A total of 28 tenders were floated, but tenders for 21 development works were cancelled.

MC Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said, “Suspecting tender pooling by contractors, I have asked the officials to recall the tenders so as to avoid a financial loss to the department.”

He said tenders would be floated shortly and the works would also be taken up on priority.

Reportedly, most of the development works were related with the installation of 25 HP tubewells in areas, including Bharti Colony, Royal City, Karabara near Vishnupuri, Pratap Bazar, New Shivaji Nagar, Naulakha Garden Colony, Janakpuri, Bajwa Colony, Shankar Puri, Prem Nagar, Kalyan Nagar, Kitchlu Nagar, Chand Colony, Ganesh Nagar and Sangalan Wala Shivala road.
